The day I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Mary is a great memory I hold and view as the beginning of my professional nursing journey. I was fortunate enough to be recruited by the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota for both academia and athletics. This opportunity encouraged me to pursue my bachelors degree in nursing with academic scholarships as well as continuing my soccer career through an athletic scholarship. I was able to achieve both academic and athletic honors throughout my four years at the University by honoring my commitments, practicing diligent time management and proactively utilizing my resources. Throughout my college experiences both with nursing clinicals and athletic competitions I learned numerous lessons and interpersonal skills. I feel as though I have transition these skills into the excellent nursing practice and care I provide to my patient's today.
The day of graduation I was blessed to share my accomplishments with my entire family. Despite the 705 mile distance from my home in Arvada, Colorado, my family's support was continuous and unwavering. Their constant confidence for my personal and professional aspirations only encouraged me to be even more driven and dedicated to my responsibilities. It was also their encouragement to pursue my passion for helping others and love for athletics and health that has facilitated me to build a holistic and family centered approach to patient care. Overall, my family was and still remain as a significant part of my life and continue to motivate me to pursue excellence.
