In order to disseminate the my data efficiently and effectively, I sought out an opportunity to present my FOCUS PDCA and survey results simultaneously. I collaborated with my Nurse Manager, Suzanne Sortman and Associate Nurse Manager, Shauna Sutton in order to reserve an agenda slot at an OR staff meeting. Considering the staffing size and varying shifts of my unit, I was confident that utilizing a staff meeting to reveal and review my data would have the greatest outreach. My awareness allowed me to organize my schedule and offer my presentation several time in order to connect and inform the evening and night shift staff.
Presenting my process improvement tool in conjunction with the AIP Preceptorship survey results helped me to exercise my expertise and educate my peers. Reviewing the FOCUS PDCA while visually observing the survey results provided a unique experience for my peers to picture how their survey contributions helped to construct my FOCUS PDCA and how their concerns about preceptorship parallel those of the current literature.
During my presentation I was exhilarated to share my knowledge and findings with my peers. I was comfortable and confident in my presentation and my abilities to stimulate conversation and confront concerns. Overall, the opportunity to present my data and future plan for AIP OR preceptorship preparation was a significant part to the success of the course as well as an encouraging success in my personal life.
Please enjoy reviewing my PowerPoint presentation that I reviewed with the OR staff on 1/26/2015 to brief them on improvement process I had facilitated to prepare and support OR preceptorship.
